Wearing A Fabulous Blazer Is The Ultimate Party Trick
You’d be lying if you said that slinky dresses and body-con jumpsuits aren’t your ensemble of choice for any dressy occasion that comes to mind, be it weekend parties, brunches or birthdays. Perhaps this could convince you to replace those expected get-ups, for any upcoming end-of-the-year celebrations, with a beautiful blazer instead.
Long gone are the days when this one-half of a power suit was solely reserved for professional meetings or formal events. Available in a variety of reiterations in 2019, such as with a shoulder pad, mismatch of patterns, checks or a floral decked one such as the one I’m wearing here – a smart blazer immediately uplifts any outfit to give it a structured yet feminine appeal. If you’re still in doubts about this form of outwear looking a tad bit too uptight and boring, here are some of the ways you can spruce it up or give it tons of glamour to make it as party-appropriate as it can get –
#1 There is no such thing as too many accessories – Don’t shy away from wearing the biggest earrings in your jewellery box or embracing the return of the mighty hair-clips. Pearl adorned accessories is the easiest way to give a dainty and elegant touch to your tresses, who has time for making braids and impossible updos anyway?
#2 Colour is your best friend – Pick a colour from your favourite blazer (assuming it has a variety of them) and try to find the closest match to it in the form of a chic skirt. Ditch the blacks and reds and go pink, try to find a fluid piece that is textured rather than a body-con one so as make the vibe less boardroom meeting and more dance the night away.
#3 Experiment with necklines – The guaranteed way to make sure your ensemble doesn’t venture to the more ‘stiff’ side is to pair it with a top that speaks to your experimental personality. Be is a bustier, crop top or a halter neck blouse – there are plenty of options to give a blazer centric attire an exciting spin.
Here are some of the great blazers I’ve spotted that would be ideal to style for New Years Eve – this punchy pink number from Missguided, an orange sequinned piece available at Zara and a classic metallic version from ASOS. Happy shopping x
