New Year, Same Sparkle
With 2019 around the corner, everyone’s year end reminiscing has officially begun. So, naturally I had to jump on the bandwagon and talk about mine –
2018 started with a complete revamp and launch of TheObsessionQuotient.com. It’s been such an amazing feeling to finally have my own website and completely tailor it to my aesthetic. My goal for creating content this year was to constantly push myself and overcome certain insecurities that previously hindered my process (see this post to know what I’m talking about). I think I’ve somewhat achieved that to a certain extent which truly excites me to get out there and shoot so much more. It was such a thrill to have interned during London Fashion Week in September and watch these amazing shows with models sashaying in fierce outfits. I had the chance to go backstage and photograph the models getting ready during hair & makeup, which was a dream come true moment for me. Attending the shows may be considered far more glamorous by some, but working behind the scenes was definitely rewarding. The street style scene during fashion week keeps going up a notch every year and I’m always left with tons of outfit inspiration afterwards.
Moving on, there have been so many ups and downs in my personal life, but the biggest realisation to have hit me is how fast 3 years of university have flown by. When I first arrived in London, the final year of my course seemed centuries away. In my head I knew I would have to live so many moments, survive through so many hardships and enjoy thousands of experiences until it arrives. And here I am, 6 more months from graduation! Keeping this countdown out of my head for now because those assignments aren’t going to complete themselves.
Let’s talk about this post, for which I just knew I had to bring out the sparkles because what is end-of-the-year celebrations if not for being unapologetically extra with all sorts of bling. I’m not a big fan of ’31st December parties but if I was then a sequinned number would surely be on the list for what to wear. These set of pictures are shot in the Instagram famous archway installation in Convent Garden. I’m in love with how the shots have turned out to reflect the ‘holiday glamour’ mood that everyone seems to be in.
Lastly, if you’ve reached this point, thank you for reading and being a part of The Obsession Quotient family. It started out as a style and travel blog from the bedroom of a ditzy teenage girl who was looking for a break from working through those accounting textbooks all day along. At its heart, it is and will always remain that, but I can’t wait to evolve it to the next level because my head is exploding with ideas.
I wish you all a fabulous new year and here’s to making it the best one yet!
